Updated November 23, 2020 – until further notice

In keeping with the latest recommendations made by the Provincial Health Officer, the BC AHSN office in Vancouver is now closed to the public until further notice. Staff members continue to work remotely and are available electronically or by telephone. In addition, to ensure the safety of staff, volunteers, and all stakeholders, the following guidelines have been instituted, in keeping with these recommendations:

  1. Staff members have been advised to continue working from home, and to not travel in and out of Metro Vancouver unless absolutely necessary.
  2. Staff members have been advised not to hold any in-person meetings in the office.

  3. The office is closed to non-staff visitors and for meetings.

  4. If staff members must visit the office, they should do BC CDC’s COVID-19 Symptom Self-Assessment prior to arrival, as requested by the Provincial Health Officer.

  5. Existing COVID-19 safety protocols will be maintained within the office.

As the situation changes, further updates will be posted to this page.

Updated October 16, 2020

The majority of BC AHSN staff continue to work remotely and our Vancouver office has not yet reopened to the public; BC AHSN continues to discourage in-person meetings.

However, as of October 1, 2020, if meetings in the office with between staff and outside guests are considered absolutely necessary, they are permitted – as long as attendees take responsibility for their roles and strict COVID-19 safety compliance guidelines are followed.

To safely hold the meeting while ensuring that the latest BC CDC guidelines are followed, the Occupational Health & Safety Committee has written an in-person meeting protocol (PDF) for BC AHSN employees and guests. Please ensure that all staff members and guests understand their responsibilities before the meeting is held.

We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation, and will post any changes to this web page as further recommendations are received.

For questions and comments, please contact us by email.

Updated July 23, 2020

Our Vancouver office has not yet returned to regular operations, but is now compliant with the latest guidelines set by WorkSafe BC and the Public Health Officer for workplaces. Staff members are still available remotely; however, BC AHSN is still not holding or supporting any in-person meetings inside and outside the office, until it is appropriate and safe to do so.

The Occupational Health & Safety Committee will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation, and will post any changes to this web page as further recommendations are received.

June 26, 2020:

On behalf of BC AHSN, I hope that you are staying healthy and safe.

In response to several inquiries I’ve received from both staff members and our extended network of stakeholders, I’d like to clarify BC AHSN’s position on holding in-person meetings at this time.

Until further advisory, and in response to this rapidly-evolving situation, BC AHSN is currently not holding or supporting any in-person meetings inside and outside the office, until it is appropriate and safe to do so.

Our Vancouver office has not officially reopened, and is presently not compliant with the guidelines set by WorkSafe BC and the Public Health Officer to sustain in-person gatherings.

A dedicated committee within BC AHSN has been created to oversee and implement a phased approached to returning our office to regular operations.

Thanks to the multiple online platforms accessible to BC AHSN staff and stakeholders, BC AHSN-related meetings should continue to be held virtually, and not in person. On advisory of our committee, I discourage off-site meetings between staff members, patient partners, and volunteers at this time.

This statement continues the recommendations I have made verbally in the past, and will be subject to change as the COVID-19 situation evolves. The Occupational Health & Safety Committee will communicate any changes on this web page as further recommendations are received.

For questions and comments, please contact us by email.

March 17, 2020

BC AHSN recognizes the urgent need to keep our staff team, volunteers, partners and guests safe – and we want to minimize transmission of COVID-19 by limiting close contact with others at this time.

Due to current conditions and risks associated with the COVID-19 outbreak, effective March 18th, 2020, our Vancouver office is closed until further notice.

BC AHSN staff team members will be reachable by phone and by email, but will not be physically located at our Vancouver office.

Our management team remains vigilant and is monitoring the situation in real time. We’ll be responding rapidly as conditions evolve on our website and social media channels.

In the meantime, please be safe and stay healthy.
